The work included in my portfolio is a mix of both Year 1 and Year 2 pieces. My Embroidered Self Portrait was one of my favourite pieces from the Textiles work that I produced last year. I feel that the likeness between myself and the image is accurate and that the skill and technique used was of a good standard. The Wire Necklace Sculpture that I produced in my first term of Year 2 is the piece of work that I am most proud of. Before starting at this college, I had not had the chance to work with a particularly wide range of materials, so I was pleased with the outcome of this project. My drawings and paintings have been done in Fine Art and Visual Studies lessons. During these lessons, we were taught to use a range of materials and techniques and I feel that I have put them to good use since I started the course. I have recently returned from a 3 week exchange visit to an Art School in Prague. This trip has been an incredible experience and one that has inspired me greatly. The buildings and the works of art that I saw whilst I was over there are something that could definitely have an effect on my work in future, and the personal experience has definitely changed me as a person. I now feel more positive about my own studies and I would definitely like to re-visit the city. I am interested in studying 3 Dimensional Design because I love to see a design come to life before my eyes. Taking a drawing and turning it into something physical that I have created myself really satisfies me, and I feel that many aspects of your course will give me the opportunity to experience this more.
